The City of Grants Pass will help people get into the holiday spirit with a day of events on Friday, December 2, culminating in the lighting of the City’s holiday tree on 5th and G streets.
Wear an ugly sweater as you stroll about G or H streets and maybe win a gift bag worth up to $100 from Shoefly, Gallop n’ Glitz, or Rogue Emporium. Three mystery judges will be roaming around to pick their favorite ugly sweater (pets are also encouraged).
You may encounter Ukulele players roaming around, and there will be warming stations on G street with treats, starting around 5 pm.
And, there will be music! The main stage will be located in G facing H in Infront of Oregon Outpost and Don’s Bike Center. The Music4kids Choir will have 2 groups performing Christmas Carole’s around 6 pm; Rogue Singers will be headliners from around 6:15 pm until Santa arrives at 6:50 pm. NotaCult Productions will also provide two hours of silent disco.
When Santa arrives, he’ll read a brief holiday story before the tree lighting ceremony at 7 PM. After that, Santa will head to the Welcome Center on the corner of 6th and G streets, which has been transformed into a Holiday Workshop.
Santa will return to his workshop twice again, on Saturday, December 10, and Saturday, December 17, from 1-4 pm.
All of these events are free.
NOTE: From 5 to 10 PM, 5th street will be closed between H and G streets, as will the alleys between 6th and 4th streets. The Owl lot will be closed for parking on Friday, beginning early Friday morning.
