Apparent Medical Emergency Results in Adult-In-Custody Death at Jackson County Jail

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Corrections Deputies recognized an Adult-In-Custody (AIC) in medical need last night in the Jackson County Jail around 10:14 p.m. Deputies helped the AIC out of her cell, at which time she was alert and responsive to deputy questions. Jail Staff requested an ambulance, but before Emergency Medical Services (EMS) could arrive the AIC became unresponsive. Deputies began life-saving efforts, and were joined by first responders from Medford Fire and Mercy Flights. The efforts were unsuccessful and the AIC was pronounced deceased at approximately 10:45 p.m.

The decedent, Sabrina Renee Decker, of Central Point, was 34-years-old at the time of her death. She was being held in the Jackson County Jail awaiting trial. Next of kin notifications have been made. Medford and Central Point Police Departments are assisting JCSO detectives in this open and on-going investigation. Cause and manner of death are pending results of an autopsy and toxicology tests. There is no further information for release at this time.
