The City of Central Point is accepting applications for the position of Recreation Programs Coordinator. The Recreation Programs Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the City's recreation programs. The recreation team is responsible for planning and facilitating community events such as Made in Southern Oregon, Movies in the Parks, 4th of July celebration, Community Christmas Lights Parade, community recreation programs, park rentals, and much more. The recreation team consists of the Parks & Public Works Director, Recreation Manager, Recreation Coordinator - Special Events/Marketing, Recreation Programs Coordinator, and Recreation Specialist. The Recreation Division works closely and coordinates events with Public Works/Parks and Police Department.

Important Notes about Job duty requirements:
AVAILABILITY: This position requires work hours outside of regular business hours will include weekends, evenings, and holidays. Required event attendance includes: 4th of July celebration, Made in Southern Oregon, Easter Eggstravaganza and Community Christmas Lights Parade. And may include attendance at other events and classes such as Movies in the Park, recreation programs, and other community events.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include:
- Associates degree in recreation; physical education, youth, adult or senior development; graphic arts; or related field.
- Two to three years of work experience in recreation, graphic arts, grant writing, or related field
A satisfactory combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the work may be considered.
- Must be able to type a minimum of net 40 words per minute.
- Valid driver’s license at the time of appointment with an acceptable driving record and must be maintained for the duration of employment.
- Able to provide documentation of legal eligibility to work in the USA.
- Able to pass a background investigation including driving record, drug screen, criminal record check, and background check.
- In addition to the above minimum qualifications, the successful applicant will possess the knowledge, skills, abilities and attributes as listed in the job description.
Total Compensation:
Recreation Programs Coordinator is a bargaining unit position represented by Teamsters Local 223. Salary and benefits are negotiated and codified in a collective bargaining agreement. The following are current benefits for this position:
Salary— starting pay is $3,802 per month ($21.93/hr) with the potential for additional incentive pay for college education and/or demonstrated bilingualism in Spanish/Sign Language. Pay range: $3,802 - $5,095. Entry pay level is step A of the salary scale, except by approval of the City Manager and based on qualifications and experience.Health Insurance— the City and the employee share the premium for full-family coverage on a Regence BlueCross/ BlueShield of Oregon preferred provider plan. This very generous health insurance plan has a $150 per person/$450 per family deductible. Currently, the employee portion of the premium for individual/family coverage is $155.46/month. Covered under this benefit are: Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription.Health Reimbursement Account — the city contributes $145 per month to each employee’s HRA-VEBA.Vacation—employees earn paid vacation based on length of service. Starting vacation accrual is two (2) weeks per year; graduated by years of service up to five (5) weeks of vacation.Paid Holidays—employees receive twelve (12) paid holidays plus two (2) floating holidays per year.Sick Leave—paid sick leave is accrued at a rate of eight (8) hours for each full calendar month worked.Life & Long Term Disability Insurance—the city provides long term disability coverage and life insurance equal to one times annual salary. Additional life, and other supplemental insurance may be purchased by the employee through payroll deduction.Retirement—the City is an Oregon PERS employer. The City pays the employee’s 6% contribution as well as the employer’s contribution, when eligible.Reimbursements—$25 per month fitness reimbursement and 50% college tuition reimbursement.Deferred Compensation—employees may contribute to a “457” Deferred Compensation Plan.
