Seasonal Town Snow Removal Reminders: We all know how unpredictable the winter weather can be here in Lakeview. To assist public work’s snow plowing efforts on all streets, please take some time to review the following snow removal reminders to keep all safe throughout the winter season:
1) Snow! Uptown/Downtown Business District: All vehicles are to be moved off the streets by 1:00 AM. Hospitals and Schools, move your vehicle(s) by 4:00 AM. Vehicle routes around schools and medical facilities also have been prioritized. In other residential areas, move your vehicle(s) by 8:00 AM. One parked vehicle prevents on average three or more car lengths of curb from being plowed.
*Reminder* At no time during the year shall trailers, travel trailers, motor homes, or boats be parked on the street. This ordinance is especially important when it comes time for Public Works to plow our streets. There shall be no tolerance between November 1 and March 31. All year this is rule is to be followed; any person violating these provisions may be subject to towing and fines.
2) Residents and private snowplow companies are prohibited from piling snow on adjacent properties or within the town’s right-of-way and streets.
Resident, property, and business owners should take note that shoveling snow from private property into the street is illegal. Do not shovel your snow, dirt, garbage, or additional debris onto the streets, it is a finable offense. No person shall place snow onto a snow pile or berm that has been created in the Town’s snow plowing or snow removal process. (Ordinance No. 784).
3) Driveways are often impacted by snow removal. Please remember to shovel snow from your driveway to the “downstream side” to help reduce the snow pushed across your driveway.
4) Please help keep fire hydrants clear of snow.
5) Citizens and businesses must keep their sidewalks shoveled.
6) Remove basketball backboards and trash cans from the street.
7) Prune overhanging tree branches above the street and gutter to avoid damaging the snow plowing equipment and above the sidewalk for pedestrian safety. Pruning street trees is the property owner’s responsibility.
If you have any questions about snow maintenance or would like to report an issue, please contact Public Works at (541) 947-2371 or publicworks@townoflakeview.org. Thank you.
