Practical nursing is a one-year certificate program that prepares students to take the state board exam to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Essential members of a health care team, LPNs provide individualized care in various work settings including long-term care, hospitals, home health, doctors’ offices and other community settings. LPN salaries in the Rogue Valley range from $47,618 to $68,116. Local positions are expected to increase by 34% over the next 10 years.
RCC also extended the application deadline for its advanced placement LPN-to-RN Bridge program, which allows current LPNs to jump into the associate degree nursing program to become a registered nurse (RN). Practical nurses applying to this advanced placement program must be currently licensed with the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN), have a minimum of 500 OSBN working hours and have completed all program prerequisites listed on the college’s associate degree nursing (ADN) program map.
RN salaries in the Rogue Valley range from $75,021 to $120,179. There is high demand for these positions. Over the next 10 years, there are expected to be almost 600 new RN positions in the Rogue Valley.
