Donald J. Brown, the sculptor who created the bronze dancer that has become an icon of the Redwood Campus, passed away last Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022.

Don was a former RCC art instructor who also served for 8 years as director of the Grants Pass Museum of Art before retiring in 2006.

Don's three daughters celebrated his life and artistic legacy by placing a cascading wreath on his beloved sculpture. The piece was created in 1980 as a memorial to Carla Castiglione Ford, a dance instructor at the college who was killed when she surprised a pair of burglars in her home on Dec. 5, 1977.
