Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) recently celebrated our Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteers at an annual awards banquet. Due to COVID restrictions, this was SAR’s first banquet since 2019. JCSO SAR has been busy the last two years, conducting 299 missions which took 32,926 volunteer hours, and affected 319 lives. Because these SAR volunteers offer their services for free, they saved our community $794,852 over 2020 and 2021.
The awards given out the night of September 17 included New Member of the Year, Outstanding Member, Special Commendation, Special Recognition, Member of the Year, and Life Member. Local music legend, Marty Davis performed after the awards ceremony.
Thank you to all our JCSO SAR volunteers, we appreciate your service and dedication to the safety of our community. To become a JCSO SAR volunteer call (541) 864-8830 or go to https://jacksoncountyor.org/.../Services/Volunteer-Programs and fill out the application.
