Car Crashes are Leading Cause of Death for Children

Car seats and boosters provide protection for infants and children in a crash, yet car crashes are a leading cause of death for children aged 1 to 13. That's why it's so important to choose and use the right car seat correctly every time your child is in the car.

 42% of children killed in 2020 in car crashes were unrestrained.

 46% of car seats and booster seats are used incorrectly.

Today through September 4, JCSO and law enforcement agencies throughout Oregon will use federally funded overtime to educate the public about child seat laws by participating in the Child Car Safety campaign. These efforts are about saving lives, and it is critical that children are in the right seat for their age and size every trip, every time.
