Work has been continuing since early May on this important transporation improvement project which will finish up later in 2022.
The reconstruction of a portion of East Vilas Road requires a total of two, four-week detours to be in place. The first detour will re-route traffic around the section of road between Foothill Road and McLoughlin Drive. Thru-traffic will not be allowed on this section beginning June 27, 2022 and lasting for four weeks. During this closure, work will focus primarily on reconstructing the subgrade base of the road for the full width.
Travelers will use portions of Foothill Road, Corey Road and McLoughlin Drive for any needed detours.
FYI - later this summer (dates to be determined) a similar action will be taken on the portion of roadway between Crater Lake Avenue and McLoughlin Drive and will result in a second detour being set up for thru-traffic utilizing Crater Lake Avenue, Corey Road and McLoughlin Drive.
Motorists should plan to use other routes during the closures and avoid the work area if at all possible to improve safety.
