Springtime Events at North Mountain Park Nature

1

NATURE PLAY AREA CELEBRATION!

Do you love the Nature Playground at North Mountain Park? Join us after school on Wednesday, May 11, 3 p.m., to appreciate the many community donors who made it possible. Let's say a big THANK YOU by playing together.

FREE fun for the whole family! Special guests: JenUine the Unicorn, Firefly Face Paint and Jackson County Library services.

This revolutionary new playground encourages creative, adventurous play while protecting wildlife habitat. Kids can safely enjoy the climbing, water and sand play, and construction with loose parts. The play area also contains ADA accessible pathways and ample seating for families and has become a place of solace throughout the pandemic. If you haven't visited yet, come join the CELEBRATION and see for yourself how transformative Nature Play can be. More information at ashland.or.us/NaturePlayArea.

ROGUE VALLEY BIRD DAY 2022!

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Rogue Valley Bird Day is returning to the North Mountain Park Nature Center on Saturday, May 14 from 8 a.m. to noon. This free, all-ages event is a local celebration of World Migratory Bird Day, which highlights migratory birds and offers community members an opportunity to learn about the birds visiting their own backyards.

The event, held every May, will include games, contests and a live bird exhibit hosted by Wildlife Images Rehabilitation and Education Center. Bird walks, hosted by expert birders from the Rogue Valley Audubon Society, will leave regularly from the Nature Center pavilion and end at the bird-banding station hosted by the Klamath Bird Observatory.

This year’s theme focuses on the impacts of light pollution, encouraging humans to “dim the lights for birds at night.” Learn more about the event at RogueValleyBirdDay.net.
