Cost of college went up for resident students at Klamath Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 5.6 percent for 2018-19 at Klamath Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Oregon residents paid $4,404 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $234 more than the $4,170 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 58.4 percent more than residents this year, or $6,978. Their price tag was unchanged from $6,978 in 2017-18.

About 90 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Oregon residents. And about 10 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 88 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 181 students received grants or scholarships totaling $895,911 and 85 students took out student loans totaling more than $448,755.

Including all undergraduates (1,514), 835 students used grants or scholarships totaling $3.8 million, and 494 students took out $2.9 million in federal student loans.
