The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office announced on March 23 that a missing four-year-old child was safely located after walking away from her home in the Selma area. The incident took place on March 21, when the child disappeared while playing outside with two dogs on a large, wooded rural property.
The search began at approximately 1:38 p.m., after the child’s mother attempted to find her and then contacted authorities for assistance. Josephine County Sheriff’s Deputies, Oregon State Police, Illinois Valley Fire, Josephine County Search and Rescue, and local residents participated in the effort.
According to Corporal Porter of the Sheriff’s Office, “The child was located at 3:26 PM approximately one mile from her residence with the dogs on a wooded trail. The child was reunited with her family with no injuries or medical need.”
