The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office reported on March 31 that deputies arrested Anthony Lynn Foster, age 34, following a vehicle pursuit that began early in the morning. Deputies attempted to stop a spray-painted black vehicle for a traffic violation on Redwood Highway near Glendon Road at approximately 1:53 a.m., but the driver did not stop and fled north.
The incident is significant as it involved multiple law enforcement agencies and several attempts to safely stop the fleeing vehicle. Spike strips were deployed near Wonder, but the suspect continued driving even after losing a tire near mile post 10. Authorities used spike strips three more times before the vehicle finally stopped near Elmer’s Restaurant on Grants Pass Parkway.
After stopping, Foster fled from the car on foot but was taken into custody following a short chase involving deputies and officers from the Grants Pass Police Department. The Oregon State Police also assisted during this incident. Foster was transported and lodged at Josephine County Jail with charges including felony elude, misdemeanor elude, reckless driving, possession of fentanyl, felon in possession of a weapon, driving while suspended (misdemeanor), escape III, and parole violation.
