The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office arrested Job Christopher McGhee, 39, on May 24 after a high-speed pursuit in the early morning hours. Deputies observed a tan GMC Suburban traveling westbound on Merlin Road at speeds estimated around 100 mph at approximately 12:03 a.m.

According to Lieutenant Jim Geiger, deputies activated their emergency lights and siren, but the vehicle accelerated and attempted to elude law enforcement. The vehicle turned onto Merlin Avenue, failed to stop at a stop sign, and continued onto Pleasant Valley Road where deputies initiated a pursuit.

The fleeing vehicle eventually slowed down while heading northbound on Pleasant Valley Road before yielding in the 1100 block of Pleasant Valley Road. Deputies conducted a felony stop and took McGhee into custody without incident. During the investigation, officers located a loaded semi-automatic shotgun in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and determined that McGhee was intoxicated at the time of arrest.

McGhee was transported to Josephine County Jail and lodged on charges including Attempt to Elude Police (Felony), Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII), and Driving While Suspended – Misdemeanor (DWS-M).

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office works to improve community safety through professional problem-solving and service, according to the official website. The office also focuses on delivering high-quality service and collaborating with the community to address shared challenges.
