H-1B Insights: Employers classified under Retail Trade industry file 6 petitions in South Oregon News publication area throughout 2024

Employers classified under the Retail Trade industry based within the South Oregon News publication area, submitted six H-1B petitions during 2024, according to data provided by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services via the H-1B Employer Data Hub. Of these, five were approved (83.3%), while one was denied (16.7%).

The H-1B visa program allows U.S. employers to temporarily hire foreign workers in specialty occupations requiring specialized knowledge and at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Locally, employers across all industries located within the South Oregon News publication area submitted 40 petitions during the same period, achieving an approval rate of 97.5%.

While the Health Care and Social Assistance industry led the H-1B filings with 26 petitions, representing 65% of all submissions in the South Oregon News publication area during 2024, the next largest contributor was the Retail Trade industry, which accounted for six petitions and represented 15% of the total. Among petitions from employers in the Retail Trade industry, 83.3% were approved and 16.7% were denied.

Among local employers with petitions categorized under the Retail Trade sector during 2024, Driveway Finance Corporation stood out with four petitions and an approval rate of 75%, followed by Lithia Motors Support Services, Inc. with two petitions and an approval rate of 100%.

Compared to 2023, the Retail Trade sector in the South Oregon News publication area saw a 57.1% decrease in the number of H-1B petitions during 2024.
