Fatal crash on Three Pines Road claims life of local man, road closed for investigation

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office announced on March 25 that a fatal single-vehicle crash occurred late the previous night on Three Pines Road near Monument Drive. The incident resulted in the death of Richard David Johnson, age 50, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to authorities, the crash took place at approximately 10:57 p.m. on March 24. First responders arrived after a 9-1-1 call and found that Johnson’s vehicle had veered off the roadway for unknown reasons before striking a fence and a large tree. The cause of why the vehicle left the road remains under investigation.

Three Pines Road was closed for about two and a half hours while deputies conducted their investigation and removed the vehicle from the area. The sheriff’s office confirmed that next of kin has been notified.
