Congressman Cliff Bentz, who represents Oregon’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on his official X account about meetings and events held in Washington, D.C.
On February 3, 2026, Bentz expressed appreciation for local law enforcement officials visiting his office: “Thank you to Sheriff Matt English of Hood River County and Sheriff Gary Bettencourt of Gilliam County for joining me in my Washington, D.C. office! It was great to talk about expanding search and rescue tools on federal lands and strengthening coordination with the U.S. Forest”.
The following day, he acknowledged discussions with industry representatives: “Thank you to the Uranium Producers of America for meeting with me in Washington, D.C. to discuss the critical role U.S.-origin uranium plays in our national security, defense readiness, long-term energy independence and the importance of expediting permitting for the Aurora” (posted February 4, 2026).
On February 5, 2026, Bentz reflected on participating in a longstanding tradition: “It was an honor to join the 74th Annual National Prayer Breakfast and take part in this year’s gathering by playing guitar. The National Prayer Breakfast continues to serve as an important reminder of the value of reflection and fellowship.”
Cliff Bentz has served as a member of Congress since replacing Greg Walden in 2021. Before his tenure at the federal level, he represented eastern Oregon constituents both in the state House from 2008 to 2018 and then briefly in the state Senate until 2020. Born in Salem in 1952 and currently residing in Ontario, Bentz holds degrees from Eastern Oregon University (BA) and Lewis & Clark College (JD).
