U.S. Congressman Cliff Bentz, who represents Oregon’s 2nd district, recently shared updates from his meetings with local leaders and community groups in Oregon via social media posts. The topics ranged from watershed protection to rural health care and environmental concerns along key rivers.
On August 20, Bentz posted about his meeting with The Dalles Mayor Rich Mays and city officials, stating, “It was great meeting with The Dalles Mayor Rich Mays and his team to discuss my legislation, H.R. 655, The Dalles Watershed Development Act. Protecting the watershed for the City of The Dalles is critical to ensuring reliable access to clean drinking water. My legislation”.
The following day, August 21, Bentz reported a visit to a rural health clinic: “Today, I had an excellent meeting with the doctors and staff at the Deschutes Rim Health Clinic in Maupin. Their work is essential to ensuring families across south Wasco County have access to quality health care. Thank you for your invaluable service to the community!”
Later that same day, he also described a discussion with outdoor guides in Maupin: “I had an excellent discussion with the outfitter community in Maupin, including river, fishing, and hunting guides. We discussed issues affecting the lower Deschutes and John Day rivers which includes fish populations and permitting challenges. I appreciate their insight and the”.
Cliff Bentz has served as Oregon’s 2nd District representative in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Greg Walden. Before his current role in Congress, Bentz served in both chambers of Oregon’s state legislature between 2008 and 2020. Born in Salem in 1952 and currently residing in Ontario, Bentz holds degrees from Eastern Oregon University (BA) and Lewis & Clark College (JD).
