Congressman Cliff Bentz, who represents Oregon’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on social media addressing National Police Week, an upcoming congressional hearing on the Department of the Interior budget, and American energy policy.
On May 11, Bentz called for public appreciation of law enforcement officers during National Police Week. He stated, “This National Police Week, I ask you to join me in thanking our law enforcement officers for all their efforts in keeping us and our communities safe. “
Two days later, on May 13, Bentz announced his participation in a House Committee on Natural Resources hearing concerning the Fiscal Year 2027 Department of the Interior Budget with Secretary Burgum. He wrote, “The House Committee on @NatResources, on which I serve, will be holding a hearing on the FY27 Department of the Interior Budget with Secretary Burgum. Tune in NOW 10:00 AM ET | 7:00 AM PT “
Later that day, Bentz addressed recent trends in American energy policy by criticizing Democratic actions regarding pipelines and federal land use while highlighting current administrative efforts to promote energy independence. He said, “ICYMI: Democrats have spent years shutting down pipelines, locking up federal land, and restricting American energy production while families paid the price at the pump. Now, we finally have an administration focused on American energy independence, cutting red tape…”
Cliff Bentz has represented Oregon’s 2nd District since 2021 after succeeding Greg Walden.1 Before joining Congress he served in both chambers of Oregon’s state legislature.2 Born in Salem in 1952 and currently residing in Ontario,3 Bentz holds degrees from Eastern Oregon University and Lewis and Clark College.4
