Congressman Cliff Bentz, who represents Oregon’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted several updates on his official social media account regarding legislative activities and personal reflections.

On January 6, 2026, Bentz expressed condolences over the death of a colleague: “I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my friend and colleague, Congressman Doug LaMalfa. Doug was not only a neighbor across state lines, representing Northern California just south of Oregon, but also a neighbor across the hall in Congress. The following day, January 7, Bentz shared details about a recent meeting with local officials: “Recently, I sat down in Madras with Jefferson County Commissioner Kelly Simmelink and other community leaders to discuss FEMA issues, wilderness study areas, and other land-use opportunities. Later that same day, he discussed energy policy concerns during an interview: “I sat down with The Bend Bulletin to discuss the growing risk of an electric power shortage in Oregon and the need for serious, long-term energy policy decisions to meet future demand. As a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, I will continue my work in Congress to secure”.

Cliff Bentz has served as U.S. Representative for Oregon’s 2nd District since 2021 after succeeding Greg Walden. He previously held positions in both chambers of the Oregon Legislature from 2008 through 2020. Born in Salem in 1952 and currently residing in Ontario at age 71, Bentz holds degrees from Eastern Oregon University (BA) and Lewis & Clark College (JD).
